This feels unnatural at first but by after a month of doing will be easy, simple and routine. One thing we need to remind you is that of these basic 50, about 15 have been messed up by modern man and you will, as you get on to this, refine this to finding the right or best source for these 15 - For now, just go with what is readily available. Example: Caveman ate snake eggs, turtle
eggs, quail eggs, etc.You eat nothing but chicken eggs.This will work except in US 95% of chicken eggs are now raised in indoor egg factories with chickens stacked 5 or more layers high, walking on wire, crowded together so tight, they can not move, highly stressed, no sunlight, no natural light, and eating nothing but genetically altered grain, hormones, antibiotics, man made chemicals and have access to eat only what is force fed to them.
Minerals etc the range raised chicken selects and FINDS on the range when needed, is unavailable and as a result is deficient and not available to you in eating those factory raised eggs etc. because the chickens never had them available as they are in nature. Therefore as you become more sophisticated you learn why, how and where to buy only range raised eggs. They are legally able to label eggs "range raised" if the chicken is allowed to go out side for five minutes a day on to a cement platform. The range raised chicken you want eggs from is able to run in a pasture with grass, weed, bugs, worms, gravel etc. Not likely to find this egg in your local super market, they are supplied by egg raisers that are into big numbers that can not be bothered with raising chickens the old fashioned way. Your local health type grocer may have this kind of eggs, seek him out. and stick with him.
The range raised is an important issue.
You wonder why American health has slipped with all of this modern "high grade" food available, you need to understand there is a difference in food you are getting now and the same food you bought and ate with the same name (eggs for example) in 1950. We need to discuss how you cook or what you do with eggs. Best way to eat eggs is raw but you have a way to go to adjust to that. It is easy to adjust to eating raw eggs in certain forms. When I used to (before diabetes) and had small kids we had "malt night" every Thursday night where we made chocolate malts. I threw in extra powdered milk and raw eggs and we had really good solid chocolate malts. Even I thought "malt night" was a big deal.
Will go into adjusting to eating raw eggs later, just understand, Rocky had it right, eat them raw. Anytime running the blender, and can, just throw in a raw egg. Just fortifies whatever you are making and you will think it is a plus. They will try to deceive you with "cage free," and/or "organic" or even "vegetarian fed" egg labels. Cage free means crowded together in a factory shed but not on wire floor, organic means they do not feed them hormones and chemicals but are still caged etc. Hold out for cage free range raised organic, which is usually what you will get from some local farmer, so find one. Eggs are one of the best all around foods and get the "eggs are bad cholesterol source, blah blah." out of your head. That was and still is all nonsense, debunked years ago.. As a diabetic I need to have food available I can eat any time anywhere so I do not go hungry, (not that there is any harm in going hungry,) I just keep low sugar peaks by eating a little all along and never eating big meals etc. Away from home and on the road a lot, or working where I have several people counting on me to keep them going on handed out tasks in remodeling etc., I do not disappear for lunch. I take along a pocket full of boiled eggs. Now most people do not know you can carry a large number of boiled eggs in your car for over a week un refrigerated. They do not spoil, like sterilized can goods, the cooked eggs are in their own can. ( egg shell ) and unless cracked do not spoil. So boiled eggs are a carry along snack. (diabetic replacement for Lays Potato Chips.) Walnuts, Brazil Nuts, etc., (no peanuts, no cashews, bad news) all work with this. This is just one of about 15 basic cavemen foods that have been altered by modern man that you learn to get back to Nature, eventually
Next - Fresh Air and Sunshine, sounds simple and basic, it is not. 80% of diabetics screw this up. Here are two inputs you have ignored, 80% or diabetics reported short on Vitamin D. This likely includes you.This basically means you have been short changing your body of exposure to sunlight. Sure you can take Vitamin D tablets - (not as good) we highly recommend taking good COD liver oil, even if you get lots of sunshine, (for added Vitamin D plus). There are many needed benefits to your body from both sunshine and COD liver oil - other than Vitamin D - and even if you think you have enough Vitamin D - (you can overdose), I would increase both until determined otherwise. A recent study of the large group of people showed that sunshine and Vitamin D - cut your chances of developing cancer by 60%. They checked the figures many times finding the results hard to believe. Actually I have read two full books on sunshine as therapy and cancer prevention etc. and can not emphasis, enough, six square inches of skin exposed to sunlight daily, for 30 minutes, is bare minimum.. As you know there was no cure for tuberculosis and years ago, one doctor was curing his patients of tuberculosis with sunshine therapy. it was poo pood by the medical community and it took 20 years to be accepted as the "cure" for tuberculosis. The result, many people who were written off to die, were sent to the Arizona desert to live as a last resort and fully recovered. There has been no study on sunshine and rate developing diabetes, but it appears to be a serious factor with the 80% short of Vitamin D pointing to a connection. Read elsewhere how I "cured" my diabetic, very serious "dead feet" with 100% Sunshine Therapy - 80% in 3 days. Note: Vitamin D is not a vitamin at all.Recent research shows that it turns out to be a body regulating hormone. So when you are short of vitamin D it means you are short of this body regulating hormone. This is surprising - research and shows it is the vital control of life energy and priorities, and your body is regulated far more by the sun than you believe. Taking a break and going south in the winter for a week of sun bathing may be far more "life saving" than you are aware of. (Full disclosure here, I have an interest, I rent 12 private homes short term to tourists in the winter in Arizona - with pool) Your body was never made for handling the high sugar levels that happen when you have eaten high amounts of refined sugar and flour. Your body survived drowning in sugar by making high amounts of insulin, the fat making hormone which forced your muscle cells to absorb surplus sugar when your liver was beyond capacity. The cells developed insulin resistance overtime as you know and you became a diabetic when two things happened - you no longer had enough muscle to dump it in and in part, because many of your cells were turned to fat by this high insulin and/or your pancreas kept increasing the insulin level as cell resistance increased over the years. And finally, making many times the normal amount could not increase enough to cover the new abuse of cells and higher resistance so your sugar levels went sky high. This is where the body damage started. Your kidneys were overloaded with high sugar and tried to rid your bloodstream of high blood sugar by filtering and urinating it out. If you drank a lot of water (and many diabetics become hugely thirsty), your kidneys were able to dispose of much of it and you peed out large amounts. Your kidneys were often damaged (and we see studies that up to 80% of diabetics have sustained some kidney damage). You can further damage your kidneys now by running high BG (sugar Blood Glucose) levels and that is what you are learning how to control and prevent. With serious kidney damage, diabetics can and do wind up on kidney dialysis machines and the best defense to help your kidneys dispose of any excess BG is to drink (by developing the habit) of drinking twice the usual amount of water you habitually drank. Drinking extra water constantly has to be a learned habit. Actually, many people do not know they are thirsty and incorrectly read it as hunger - and instead of drinking, they EAT. They interpret a body's signal wrong. Therefore every time you are hungry - first drink a full glass of water, wait 5 minutes and reconsider if you are still hungry. As a diabetic changing your life style, you are no longer a "sipper". You have become a water drinker. Every time you are hungry or thirsty, you now drink a full glass of water. Got that - No more sipping water. You are a convert, you are NOW a water drinker. A FULL GLASS EVERY TIME YOU DRINK. Learn that often what you thought was hunger, was not hunger at all but thirst. Eventually, you will become aware of that difference and at the slightest indication of hunger, you drink a glass of water. Will you stop gaining weight? Probably - By the way, stop drinking from water fountains and learn to drink from a full large glass. Bottoms up. Rebuild your Muscle Mass, Do the exercise to build muscles back and even do strength training to build more muscles than you ever had and you will automatically fix your sugar peak problem by giving your body some place to temporarily put sugar peaks. Diabetes will be solved. Understand, exercise does burn some sugar but this does not handle the peaks that are the extreme hazard to your body. Exercise helps maintain the muscle you have left. EVERY EXERCISE STRENGTH BUILDER AND MAINTAINER (keep from getting worse) HELPS TREMENDOUSLY Not only do you burn some sugar, with exercise, the main thing is you maintain ("maintain current level of sugar dump"), stop further muscle loss. To regain some of your former now lost muscle MASS, you at least weekly strength train, which means you stretch or exceed your normal muscle use, then in a few days, your body adds NEW muscle. Regain muscles and your body regains a place to dump dangerous sugar peaks. This is why strength training is important to diabetics, to gain new muscle, not just maintain what's left. This new muscle will not have the old insulin resistance.
